Searches for a Unibet app Ontario players can use today lead nowhere: Unibet permanently closed its Ontario platform, on.unibet.ca, on March 26, 2024. The rest of Canada lost access later. The international unibet.com casino, which excluded Ontario but accepted the other provinces, had been replaced by a country selector without Canada by late 2025.
Unibet reviews published before these changes describe sites Canadians can no longer open. This page sets out what Unibet was in Canada, the dated evidence for each closure, what the notices say about existing accounts, and how to find a regulated site in your own province instead.
Two Unibet sites, two companies
Unibet belongs to Kindred Group, which is now part of FDJ United. In Canada the brand ran as two separate businesses under different rules:
| Ontario site | International site | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | on.unibet.ca | unibet.com |
| Operator | Unibet ON Inc. | Kserol P.L.C. (company C 88882) |
| Licence | AGCO registration and an iGaming Ontario operating agreement | Malta Gaming Authority, MGA/B2C/1031/2023 |
| Who it served | Ontario | The rest of Canada (Ontario was on its restricted list) |
| Status in October 2026 | Closed since March 26, 2024 | Canada missing from the country selector |
The Maltese licence never made the international site part of any provincial market. It was an offshore site for every province it served, and its archived terms set an inactivity fee in Canadian dollars (CAD 7) and mentioned Interac.
The Unibet app Ontario closure of March 2024
The Ontario address still carries the closure notice: "on.Unibet.ca is now closed. As of March 26, 2024, this platform has been permanently closed. Therefore, you can no longer access your account."
The regulator's directory tells the same story. iGaming Ontario listed Unibet among its regulated sites in a copy archived on 19 January 2024; by the copy of 18 July 2024 it was gone, and it is not in the live list either. The notice covers the platform as a whole, so it applies however you used to log in, in a browser or through an app. Casino Unibet Ontario, in other words, has not existed for more than two years.
For former account holders the notice says only that accounts can no longer be accessed. We found nothing further published about balances, so anyone with an open question should keep their records and remember that Unibet ON Inc. was registered with the AGCO.
How the rest of Canada lost unibet.com
Outside Ontario the change came in stages, each visible in public records:
- 1 July 2025: an archived copy of the unibet.com general terms names Kserol P.L.C. as operator and lists "Ontario Canada" among restricted countries, which left the other provinces able to play.
- 24 November 2025: the next archived copy shows the same terms address redirecting elsewhere.
- 23 October 2026: unibet.com asks visitors to choose a local site from Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France and Monaco, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden and the UK. Canada is not on the list, the old terms page returns an error, and unibet.ca does not resolve.
We found no Canadian-facing Unibet site anywhere as of that date.
The AGCO penalty on Unibet's record
On 25 August 2022 the AGCO issued an Order of Monetary Penalty of C$48,000 to Unibet ON Inc. for advertising and inducement infractions. The regulator said the company promoted "generous welcome offers" in broad advertising between May 19 and May 22, 2022, contrary to the AGCO's Standard 2.05 on advertising inducements. It is history now, but it is part of the brand's Canadian record.
Slots, games, PayPal and bonuses: nothing left to compare
Because no Unibet site accepts Canadians, Unibet slots, Unibet casino games, deposit methods and promotions are no longer open to Canadian players. There are no current terms, wagering rules or payment pages for Canada to assess, so this page carries no score. We rate only sites a Canadian can actually join.
The casino publishes no game counts or provider list we could source.
Where Canadians can play instead
The safest starting point is the regulated option in your province:
- Ontario: sites with AGCO registration and an iGaming Ontario operating agreement, covered in our Ontario guide.
- Alberta: sites registered with the AGLC under an Alberta iGaming Corporation agreement, live since 13 July 2026.
- Other provinces: the provincially run site.
Offshore sites are not licensed by any province. You must be 19, or 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Playing in Canada explains each province, our casino reviews list the sites we have checked, and the responsible gambling page covers limits and self-exclusion, which in each province applies only to that province's regulated sites.
