NorthStar Bets is a Canadian sportsbook and casino brand that runs two separate sites. In Ontario, northstarbets.ca is operated by NorthStar Gaming (Ontario) Inc. inside the province's regulated market. Everywhere else in Canada, northstarbets.com is run by the Abenakis Council of Wolinak, based in Wolinak, Quebec, under a Kahnawake licence. Both list the same headline casino offer, a 100% match up to C$1,000, but they are different businesses with different terms.
This NorthStar Bets casino review keeps the two sites apart and quotes the operator's own pages and help centre, as of October 2026. The national site is well documented on banking and support; the Ontario site publishes much less, and where a fact is only confirmed for one of them, we say which.
NorthStar Bets welcome bonus: two sites, two packages
What you are offered depends on which site you join. Both sites print amounts with a plain $ sign; the national help centre confirms accounts in Canadian dollars, and we write C$ throughout.

The national promotions card does not say how many Bonus Spins come with the first deposit, nor the match percentage for deposits two to four. More important, neither site posts the wagering requirement. On northstarbets.com it sits in a per-promotion "Term Sheet" that is not published on the promotions page, and the general promotion terms carry no fixed multiple.
Why the missing multiple matters
The match is easy to price: deposit C$500 and the bonus is C$500; deposit C$1,000 or more and it stops at C$1,000. What that bonus costs to unlock is the open question, and without the multiple it cannot be put in dollars. Ontario site: Ontario's regulator allows casino bonuses to be advertised only on the casino's own site (AGCO Standard 2.05), so its offer is not listed here.
Loyalty points, Lucky Rush and weekly promotions
The national site runs a busier promotions page than the welcome offer suggests. As of October 2026 it lists:
- NorthStar Bets Loyalty Points, earned on cash casino bets and convertible into Casino Bonuses or Bonus Bets for the sportsbook;
- double loyalty points on Fridays;
- Lucky Rush, weekly slot leaderboards whose prizes carry no wagering;
- a Pragmatic Play network promotion advertising $560K in weekly prizes;
- 30 Bonus Spins on Playtech slots after wagering $100;
- Bonus Spins for Thursday deposits;
- the NorthStar Elite VIP programme.
The Ontario promotions page names a sportsbook offer, a Bonus Bet up to $100 if your first bet loses, but none of the casino extras above. The 30-spin offer is a useful example of the trade: C$100 of wagering is the price, and on a slot with any house edge part of that C$100 is expected to be lost before the spins arrive. Leaderboards and network prizes reward volume in the same way, which is worth keeping in mind: chasing a ranking means betting more, and the house edge applies to every spin.
NorthStar Bets online casino games and providers
NorthStar Bets does not publish a game count for either site, or a split between slots, live dealer and table games. The providers we can confirm are the two named in its own promotions: Playtech and Pragmatic Play. Both studios' games feature in the casino's own promotions, but a full studio list is not shown.
No testing lab certificate and no payout percentage appear on the pages read. That does not mean the games are untested, only that no proof is published. For a player who chooses a casino by catalogue size, this is the weakest part of the NorthStar Bets online casino, and the reason it scores 4 for games.

Banking is the brand's strongest point, at least on the national site, whose help centre covers it in detail. Accounts run in C$ and NorthStar Bets charges no fees.

- Withdrawals: Interac and Instadebit only, from C$10 up to C$9,999 per transaction. Cards are deposit-only.
- Speed: approval usually takes a few hours, and up to 24 hours.
- Ceiling: C$50,000 per 30 days.
- Crypto: not accepted.
ID is not needed to open an account, but it is required before the first withdrawal, so uploading it early avoids a delay on the first payout.

The national site offers the NorthStar Bets Canada app for both iPhone and Android. The help centre points players to download.northstarbets.com for both the NorthStar Bets iPhone app and the NorthStar Bets Android build, rather than listing a store page. Both sites also work in a mobile browser.

Licence, owner and safety on each site
The two NorthStar Bets sites rest on different licences and different companies.
- northstarbets.com: operated by the Conseil des Abenakis de Wolinak (Abenakis Council of Wolinak), 10120 rue kolipaio, Wolinak, Quebec, G0X 1BO. The NorthStar Gaming brand is licensed to the council. Kahnawake Gaming Commission licence 00930; the Commission's permit-holders list shows the Abenaki Council of Wolinak with www.northstarbets.com.
- northstarbets.ca: operated by NorthStar Gaming (Ontario) Inc., registered with the AGCO and operating under an agreement with iGaming Ontario. The iGaming Ontario directory lists it under Casino and Sports Betting. The registration number was not shown in the sources we checked.
We found no public regulator action against either site. The national site is not licensed by any province: Kahnawake, not a provincial regulator, is the body behind it, and that holds for Quebec, Alberta and the rest of Canada alike. Only the Ontario site sits under provincial oversight.
Two account rules from the national terms are worth knowing. An account becomes inactive after 12 months without use and dormant after a further 24 months, at which point it is locked until support reactivates it. No inactivity fee is mentioned.
Support: 24/7 phone, email and chat
Support is one of the brand's clearer strengths on the national site. The help centre lists:
- a toll-free line, +1 (877) 870-5758;
- email at [email protected];
- live chat, available to logged-in customers;
- opening hours of 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
A phone line is useful precisely when chat is out of reach, for example when you cannot log in. French is a weaker point: the national site is in English only, and French-language support is not stated, even though the operating council is based in Quebec. The Ontario site does not publish its own support details on the pages read.
Signing up and logging in
The help centre sends Ontario residents to northstarbets.ca and everyone else to northstarbets.com, so the first step is choosing the site that matches where you are. Both require players to be 19 or older; NorthStar Bets sets 19 even for Alberta and Quebec, where the provincial age is 18.
The order that saves time later looks like this:
- Open the site for your province and register with your legal name and real details.
- Set a deposit limit by day, week or month before the first payment, if you plan to use one.
- Deposit at least C$20 by Interac, Instadebit or card; only Interac and Instadebit can be used to withdraw, so a card-only player will need one of them later.
- Upload ID before you ask for the first payout. Registration does not require it, but the first withdrawal does.

On northstarbets.com the help centre lists three tools: deposit limits by day, week or month; a time-out; and self-exclusion for 6 months. Loss limits and session reminders are not on the list.

Alberta deserves a note. Its regulated market opened on 13 July 2026 and requires AGLC registration and an Alberta iGaming Corporation agreement. NorthStar Bets has no Alberta-registered site in the sources checked, so Albertans who play with the brand use the Kahnawake-licensed national site.
